Project: 2002 Chevrolet Express 3500 - Crank No-Start Repair
Overview
- Vehicle: 2002 Chevrolet Express 3500
- Engine: 5.7L V8
- Problem: Crank no-start condition
- Status: Root cause identified, awaiting parts

Initial Symptoms
- Died while driving up friend's driveway
- Cranks but won't start
- P0300 code (random/multiple cylinder misfire)
Diagnostic Findings
- ✅ Fuel pump primes, fuel rail at 45 PSI
- ✅ Check engine light illuminates
- ✅ Security light clears (not theft lockout)
- ✅ Coil produces spark
- ❌ NO spark at distributor output
- 🔍 ROOT CAUSE: Distributor rotor center spring contact is BROKEN OFF
Repair Plan
- Replace all 8 spark plugs (matching set)
- Replace distributor cap
- Replace distributor rotor
- Clean distributor housing
- Clear P0300 code
- Test and verify
Estimated Cost
- Spark plugs (8): ~$30-50
- Distributor cap: ~$20-25
- Distributor rotor: ~$10-15
- Total: ~$60-90
