Project: 2002 Chevrolet Express 3500 - Crank No-Start Repair

Overview

Initial Symptoms

  • Died while driving up friend's driveway
  • Cranks but won't start
  • P0300 code (random/multiple cylinder misfire)

Diagnostic Findings

  • Fuel pump primes, fuel rail at 45 PSI
  • Check engine light illuminates
  • Security light clears (not theft lockout)
  • Coil produces spark
  • NO spark at distributor output
  • 🔍 ROOT CAUSE: Distributor rotor center spring contact is BROKEN OFF

Repair Plan

  1. Replace all 8 spark plugs (matching set)
  2. Replace distributor cap
  3. Replace distributor rotor
  4. Clean distributor housing
  5. Clear P0300 code
  6. Test and verify
