Vocabulary List

1. Aberration

Part of Speech: Noun Definition: A departure from what is normal, usual, or expected; an anomaly Example: The sudden snowstorm in July was considered an aberration, not the norm for that season.

2. Abjure

Part of Speech: Verb Definition: To solemnly renounce a belief, right, or cause; to give up something formally Example: After the scandal, the politician was forced to abjure his previous statements.

3. Abstruse

Part of Speech: Adjective Definition: Difficult to understand; obscure or hidden from ordinary understanding Example: The professor's abstruse theories on quantum physics left most students confused.

4. Acumen

Part of Speech: Noun Definition: The ability to make good judgments and quick decisions, typically in a particular domain Example: Her business acumen helped the startup grow from a garage idea into a Fortune 500 company.

5. Admonish

Part of Speech: Verb Definition: To warn or reprimand someone firmly; to advise earnestly Example: The teacher admonished the students for cheating on the final exam.

6. Adulation

Part of Speech: Noun Definition: Excessive praise or admiration; idolization Example: The rock star couldn't handle the adulation from fans who followed him across three countries.

7. Adjunct

8. Aggrandize

Part of Speech: Verb Definition: To increase the power, status, or wealth of; to make something seem greater than it is Example: Politicians often aggrandize their own achievements while downplaying their failures.

9. Allegory

Part of Speech: Noun Definition: A story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one Example: George Orwell's Animal Farm is an allegory for the Russian Revolution and the rise of Stalinism.

10. Amalgamate

Part of Speech: Verb Definition: To combine or unite to form one organization, structure, or whole Example: The three small publishing houses decided to amalgamate into a single multinational conglomerate.
