📋 Project Overview
This repository tracks all maintenance, repairs, and issues for your Husqvarna 440 chainsaw (standard model, not the 440 CH variant). Each subfolder represents a specific issue or maintenance task with its own progress tracking.

🔧 Recommended Maintenance
Regular Maintenance Intervals
After Every Use:
- Clean external surfaces
- Check chain tension
- Clean air filter (if dirty)
- Check fuel/oil levels
Every 10 Hours:
- Clean spark arrestor screen
- Check chain brake operation
- Inspect chain for damage
Every 50 Hours:
- Replace air filter
- Clean carburetor intake screen
- Check and clean fuel filter
- Inspect starter assembly
Every 100 Hours:
- Replace spark plug
- Inspect clutch and drive sprocket
- Check crankcase seals
- Full carburetor service
Annually:
- Complete carburetor rebuild or replacement
- Inspect all hoses and connections
- Check cylinder and piston for wear
- Full inspection by certified technician
Carburetor Settings (Factory Default)
Starting Point for Adjustment:
- L Screw (Low Speed): 1¼ - 2¼ turns out from seated
- H Screw (High Speed): 1¼ - 1½ turns out from seated
- T Screw (Idle): Adjust for smooth idle, chain should not rotate
Maximum RPM: ~11,200 RPM
Fuel and Oil
Fuel Mixture:
- Gasoline: 90+ octane, ethanol-free preferred
- Oil: Husqvarna 2-stroke oil or equivalent JASO FD/ISO L-EGD
- Mix Ratio: 50:1 (2.6 oz oil per 1 gallon gas)
Chain Oil:
- Use high-quality chainsaw bar and chain oil
- Do not use waste motor oil
Spark Plug
- Type: NGK BPMR7A or equivalent
- Gap: 0.5 mm (0.020 inches)
- Replacement: Every 100 hours or annually
Air Filter
- Type: Foam pre-filter + paper main filter
- Cleaning: Wash in warm soapy water, oil lightly, let dry
- Replacement: Every 50 hours or when damaged
🔧 Common Husqvarna 440 Issues

- Carburetor adjustment - Common issue, especially after storage
- Spark arrestor clogging - Causes poor performance
- Chain tension - Needs frequent adjustment

X-TORQ Specific
